They were a definite standout when I first saw them play back in 06, and anyone reading this over east: go see them! They’re great live and are playing throughout the next few weeks before returning to Perth for another show at the Rosie on 9th October…

Speaking of October 9… I’ve got some art in Clothespeg Volume 3 opening that night at Slaughterblouse, 451 Beaufort St, 7-10pm. Slaughterblouse is in close proximity to the Rosemount, so come and check out both events!

In other Preytells related news I had to get my groupie on and do a signature run. Much love.

I’ve always found human behaviour pretty interesting, and an occurence this eve made me think…

I went to see a sweet local band called The Preytells, who I’ve been following since they started gigging some years back. They were playing at the Republic, which is evidently a part-time strip joint, littered with poles – not all of which suspend the roof. Anyway, after the bands finished a DJ started spinning tunes and groups of people were dancing throughout the room. I was making my way out, completely sober, and saw a sizeable gap between a few girls at the outskirts of the dancing mob. I stepped into their midst and one danced out in front of me obstructing the gap, so I stopped. Next thing I know her drink is down my shirt and her glass shattered on the floor. It was the diversity of reactions to this that interested me.I first turned to her friend who was shouting at me, saying I owed the girl a drink… Right.

Next I turned to the girl who spilt the drink, and was incessantly apologising. She was (so sorry)^20, and genuinely so.

Finally, I really didn’t care, and tried to communicate to the apologising girl that it’s alright. It was an accident, no big deal. It was only champagne anyway.

I assume if the friend knew what happened she wouldn’t have gotten all uppity, but no doubt she always automatically assumes the stranger is in the wrong in these scenarios. I’d think most people are instinctively like that, though. Thus begs the question, how many fights/arguments in clubs are started over either miscommunication or straight out subjectivity?
