Team Fortress 2 propaganda poster

I designed this poster for the Team Fortress 2 demoman vs soldier propaganda contest. Just something pretty simple with limited colours.

I was gonna add text (taglines) but decided to keep it visual.

I also submitted a version with this logo at the top:

Elite Body Concepts logo design + development

There were some minor trials with the ‘t’ for this logo so I ended up redoing it with an unmistakable ‘t’.

Here’s the final version:

And the heavily debated version (across 3 posts):

Now… Read on for an insight into development. Beware: lengthy post.

Nick took the liberty of fixing the logo for me:

Just add water

Water, water, and more water.

So the last one definitely reads as elite, amirite? Although I made ‘lit’ slightly closer (fixed the kerning) for the pic below:

I think it’s between the first and last… Or the way way back original one. hah

PS. Thankyou all for your feedback!

How about now?

EBC-logo-revise2

Is there any doubt as to what this says? Is this dumbing it down to an unnecessary extent (see Greg’s comment on the previous post)?

I’ve reduced the incline to 5degrees and extended the crossbar.

Also here’s a comparison with the old incline:

Digital wizardry

Did a little illustration job today for a mining company. It basically involved making dull things shiny, and was actually quite enjoyable!

Future Perth banner

I whipped up a design for one of those 1.8m tall, standing point-of-sale banners for the crew over at Future Perth, a fairly youthful organisation focussed on improving Perth. The design’s not very exciting but it’s functional, and will just be one element at their booth/stall. The original request was for a black banner, which set off alarm bells. Anyone that’s worked with me will attest to the fact that I generally avoid black. It’s overstated, high-impact and dominant… and Facepocalypse is all over that action!! But blue is much more appropriate for a committee that needs to look professional and approachable.

A lot more thought goes into design than may be expected from a glance. Read the rest of this entry →

Tiger type

Working on some branding actions for Goodnight Tiger… This is one of the things I’ve been hacking around with in photoshop. I haven’t gone to the effort of vectorising it yet. If it reminds anyone of an existing logo tell me. Music is such a subjective thing, I’m not sure how I feel about this – I think I’ve been looking at it for too long. Either that or I’m just not sold.
