Slicey

Trying to get more dynamic posing, and working on my values. It kind of reminds me of Ashley Wood‘s art, amongst others’. I think instinctively I like a lot of the same treatments he uses – messy (but contained) brushwork, sharp angles, spiky shapes, and lots of cutting back (shaping the silhouette of things by painting over it with the colour behind, as opposed to painting the edge of the thing you’re shaping). However, there are a lot of other artists that paint similarly.

Summerscape

I met with Little Creatures’ event manager today and have lined up an exhibition for December 22nd (2 months away!) with a handful of other artists. Specific details to come – save the date, it’s a Tuesday.

The theme is ‘Summer’, and I’m liking the thought of doing some semi-abstract, dynamic landscapes. Here’s something I was playing around with today. It could be more dynamic, but I think it’s a nice little test.
