FACEPOCALYPSE

This morning Brent Watkinson, Gary Kelly and George Pratt gathered the Illustration Academy workshop students for an impromptu discussion on various things arty. I’m just going to relay some points in no particular order. Some things I knew were reaffirmed and others completely opened my eyes to what I should be doing. There are things that art schools/universities just don’t teach you. The overall standard of art education worldwide is pretty appalling, with a few stand-out institutions that tell students everything they need to know about working and learning as an artist. I just had a really vivid dream.

Spent longer on this than previous sketches. I worked over something I was playing around with yesterday morning, and was working on it last night til the power went out.

Perrin gave me the brief: “Something psychadelic! It needs eyeballs with a trail of fire coming out of holes in the sky.”

It’s actually an evolution of a concept I wanted to put in the upcoming exhibition, so I may well tidy it up a bit further and put it in. heh

Here it comes… June 2009 was big enough, but the ride’s going to continue into July. I kind of expected June to be my bombshell month of 09, and in a way it was. Now July’s less than an hour away and the saga continues.

July is my new spectacles. I hope they’re tinted yellow.
