Industrial interior

Haven’t done an interior in forever. Just some typical videogame environment. As you may have guessed I’m quite fond of Valve’s games (and their aesthetic).

Girl with parasol colour study

I said the girl with the red parasol from the Guerilla Laneway Exhibition would be my next colour/lighting study, and here it is.

Slice n dice, but mostly slice

The Summer exhibition opening is tomorrow (Tuesday)!!

I’m ready! Today I printed, guillotined, or otherwise sliced the artwork tags and signage bits and pieces for tomorrow.

Tomorrow that arrow will point to the exhibition info-card, so come along and receive your free info-card because as the text suggests; it was made specifically for you.

Not that guy, just you. That other guy’s got his mits all over the shop. You, on the other hand… Well, I quite like you.

A little aside

Last Friday at the Beyond Motion office a bunch of ex-coworkers joined our prototyping crew of 4 for a festive beer o’clock. Read the rest of this entry →

Summer exhibition interview in Xpress

SBoxer-SummerNightforWeb

I did an interview with the Forks Open Doors duo for Xpress this week, you can view it online here. I’m not very eloquent in this interview, possibly due to post-lunch-eating-drowsiness. It’s a pretty great writeup, though – Emma’s writing skills are good. And stuff. How’s that for eloquent?

Anyway, the Summer exhibition draws near! It opens this Tuesday!! Get down to Little Creatures with your art-evaluation beret for a mildly festive drink or two.

Guerilla Laneway Exhibition timelapse

Who’s that sexy man in the preview frame? He appears to be holding one of my artworks.

Actually I feature pretty heavily in the start of this since I put my artworks up just above the crotch-level camera then loitered around chatting to various art-istes and designers.

Also note the subliminal Summer advertising around 0:19. ha

I don’t even remember who held the flyer. Probably Jeremy (the man behind this awesome video!)

I found it interesting to frantically pause-play this video and check it out frame by frame. It’s a great cross-section of the day, and there were a few things that stood out. Read the rest of this entry →

Seadragon

20091216-Seamonster

Unfortunately I blocked this in so quickly I forgot to save the base sketch (scribbly linework), but here’s a WIP animation showing the painting in progress:

20091216-SeamonsterWIP

As a sidenote to anyone who might save animated .gif’s for web in the future: Making the bottom section of this image transparent instead of white for the first 5 frames (before it was painted) lopped off about 40kb on a 150kb file. That kind of surprised me.

Team Fortress 2 propaganda poster

I designed this poster for the Team Fortress 2 demoman vs soldier propaganda contest. Just something pretty simple with limited colours.

I was gonna add text (taglines) but decided to keep it visual.

I also submitted a version with this logo at the top:
