Whitley, Tim Nelson + Goodnight Tiger @ Amplifier
Awesome.
What a great night.
Ofcourse it was partially attributed to my company but the bands played outstanding sets. Highly entertaining.
Goodnight Tiger rapidly drew in the wandering crowd with Monsters. “What is this alluring gypsy music?” one girl remarked. Not really, but someone could well have said that.
Up next was Timothy Nelson and the Infidels. The man is so passionate and the band gets totally immersed in their performance. Truly inspirational to watch, I just wish they had Let Her Go on their myspace. In any case, go see them live – you can witness their energy first hand! And hear my favourite song.
Headliner Whitley rocked out with an interesting set including a partial cover of Abba’s Dancing Queen and a tribute to New Order. Furthermore, he’s a total jerk, and it’s very entertaining. If he gets any grief from the crowd they’re in for abuse. I won’t quote specifics but in one instance someone came out with a mum joke and got completely shut down.
I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end, but I had a quick lol with him about being a jerk after the gig and he seemed friendly enough – albeit a bit drunk.
Anyway, Goodnight Tiger and Tim Nelson are playing again today (Saturday) at X-Wray cafe in Freo from 2:40pm. If you’re available head on down.
