Here is my revised version of the painting Running Crown for the Summer exhibition.

Emerge from Emergency (Room)
Last night whilst idly chit-chatting with a companion, and with little prior warning, my head exploded. I was rushed to Charles Gairdner hospital for reconstructive surgery. In the short space of time between this unfortunate event and being released this morning I learnt two things. Firstly; there is no chance of reconstructing a charred moustache (but complete substitution is an option), and secondly; Gairdner is spelt with an ‘i’.
I think they did a fairly good job. Although they did advise me it might take a few weeks before I acclimatise to looking in multiple directions at once.

Industrial facility sketch
This is probably the roughest (and quickest) sketch I’ve ever posted. It must’ve clocked in at 20mins tops.
Although I think overall I’ve been spending a bit longer on sketches recently than when I started posting them in August.

Elevated walkway
This sketch is another attempt to start in greyscale. The aim is to get better values by doing so, which is brilliant in theory, but I’m not used to painting this way. I used to avoid this method because the common methods of colouring greyscale images tend to result in a muddy palette with minimal variation.
My process is also partially figuring out how to colour a greyscale image without completely repainting the image.
I believe some pros paint the majority of the image then add extra details like plants or other small vibrant features after doing a basic colour pass on the greyscale image. I did this for the flag and material.

Fluidity
A semi-abstract beachscape.
This is actually loosely based on a sketch I did while manning my last exhibition. Very simple, balanced composition with a limited palette. I like how this one turned out, I think it’ll make the cut for Summer.
