Cafe commission

I’ve been working on a commission this week, and it’s finally finished! The clients gave me a vague description of things they like about my other paintings and why they like those things, the type of emotional response they wanted, and a general colour palette. I think the colour palette was the hardest part to work in simply because it doesn’t reflect reality when transposed across just any scene. As such, you end up with a more graphical artwork. However, the clients were great and put a lot of faith in me to just do what I do and report back when done. They love the final painting, and it’ll measure ~1m x 1.8m in their house. Pretty epic. The biggest painting I’ve done to date. So big that I had to constantly merge down to one layer and kept getting clipboard export errors when closing Photoshop and Painter.

Also, this piece was inspired by Greens in Leederville, a regular hangout for the clients.

I was gonna say it looks like that awesome cafe in Leederville. Awesome, as per usual Simon. Love it :)

I hope it’s called “Greens with Yellow and Pinks”.

Or at least “Hang it in your loungeroom. On the wall. No pegs. This way up.”

Haha, two fine suggestions! I think I’ll actually use the first one.

    Also, thanks Amalie!

This is awesome. I feel for you with the file size problems.
