Hale Art Exhibition

I’ve previously blogged the 3 works I have in the exhibition, and it’s opening tomorrow night (however the opening requires tickets). Here’s an excerpt from a UWA posting about it:

The Exhibition continues Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 August. Entry is free.

The Hale Art Exhibition has become a much anticipated annual event around Perth and this year it will be officially opened by Richard Court. Hale Art Exhibition presents for your pleasure:
New works by Robert Juniper
Selected works by WA’s best-known artists
Special exhibition titled Small Art for a Big Year
Commemorative print by Leon Pericles

Works by Simon Boxer, a totally awesome up and coming artist with laservision and magical powers.

I may have added the last point myself, but if you’re interested in art go check it out over the weekend!

Big Red

sboxer-bigred

Another entry into the 3rd Clothespeg exhibition, happening in August and September. I’ll post about it closer to the time. It’s a take on Little Red Riding Hood.

Decided to submit my pieces as open edition, signed A5 prints on mid-gloss photo paper, for 20 buckeroos. I only get to sell 2 of each at the exhibitions, so I’ll probably offer these prints for sale elsewhere, too… In the future. When I’m organised enough to become e-commercially literate. Or something.

Back from Busso + Clothespeg Project

20090723hatmissing2

Returned from Busselton today and got straight to work on my entries for the next Clothespeg Project… Which are technically due today. Fortunately, they’re only A5 in size so I don’t need to go detail crazy, also there’s no theme.

Although, those conditions are a blessing and a curse. A5 is really small and I like unification. Having no theme is a lot more daunting. However, it kind of does have a theme in its presentation, since all the A5 prints are hung from wire by clothespegs. I decided to run with that in this piece and show a girl looking at her beret, which is pegged to the top of the page.

It’s nice to have a local

Sheesh, I had a blogless phase of almost a week. And what a week! I should try and recall what I did. Probably not a whole lot.

I did manage to catch a few Goodnight Tiger gigs though.

Triple J Hottest 100

I’ve been streaming the Hottest 100 this afternoon and it just finished. Goodtimes. I thought it was a pretty reasonable list, definitely made good listening, and 3 of the less obscure songs I voted for got in.

The whole thing is gonna be broadcast on a Rage special August 8th, and this evening I believe they’re playing live tracks from the artists featured in the countdown.

Posemaniacs

I need to practise my gestural drawing, and since I don’t have a live model Posemaniacs is my new old buddy. The basic gist is it flashes 3D male or female posed models with basic musculature textured on for a chosen amount of time. Below is a sample pose.

Apple cider tea party

And what a party.

Clive took a liking to apple cider in recent weeks, and requested an apple cider tea party in memory of a wonderful life. The symbolism being the sweetness of cider counteracts the bitterness and sadness.

In the name of Clive, we danced. Oh how we danced. Goodtimes and lols. I had so much fun on the relies-dominated dancefloor. Special props to the Sullivan kids (cousins) who danced wildly for the majority of the night.

It all began with just a jump to the left

Good bad good

I was saving this piece for something to show. I thought I’d go with a compliment sandwich inspired posting model as the inevitable approached.

As par usual, you can view this piece slightly larger at my folio. It’s another piece I did specifically for the Hale Art Exhibition, running 31st July-2nd August.
